CATS COUNCIL OF MAYORS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OFFICER ELECTED TO AMPO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Villa Park President Rae Rupp Srch, who serves as vice chairperson of the Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS) Council of Mayors Executive Committee, has been elected to the board of directors of the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO). She was also elected treasurer of its board of directors.
AMPO is a nonprofit membership organization established in 1994 to serve the needs and interests of metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) nationwide. The nine-member AMPO Board of Directors is directly elected by its membership. The majority of the organization's board seats are held by local elected officials who are active members of their respective MPOs.
Rupp Srch is currently serving her third term as president of the Village of Villa Park. She is secretary of the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) and serves as the NIPC representative to the CATS Policy Committee.
"Having President Rupp Srch serve on AMPO's board will strengthen the voice of the Chicago region in Washington on critical transportation issues," said Don Kopec, associate executive director of CATS.
The Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS) was formed in 1955 to develop the first comprehensive long-range plan for northeastern Illinois. Since then, the CATS Policy Committee has been designated by the governor of Illinois and local officials as the MPO for the region.
