The Central Region Council of Mayors is a subregional transportation planning and
programming body in west Cook County, Illinois, in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
Fifteen municipalities form the council, which functions in cooperation with the
Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS).

States. U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS)
This agency was established for data collection, analysis, and reporting
and to ensure the most cost effective use of transportation monitoring measures. The
BTS strives to increase public awareness of the nation's transportation system and its

U.S. National Transportation Safety Board
This is an independent federal agency that investigates every civil
aviation accident in the U.S. and significant accidents in the other modes of
transportation, conducts special investigations and safety studies, and issues safety
recommendations to prevent further accidents. U.S. Surface Transportation Board
This decisionally independent, bipartisan adjudicate body, originally
housed in the United States Department of Transportation, has jurisdiction over certain
surface transportation economic regulatory matters.
