  • U.S. National Transportation Safety Board
    This is an independent federal agency that investigates every civil aviation accident in the U.S. and significant accidents in the other modes of transportation, conducts special investigations and safety studies, and issues safety recommendations to prevent further accidents.

    This decisionally independent, bipartisan adjudicate body, originally housed in the United States Department of Transportation, has jurisdiction over certain surface transportation economic regulatory matters.
