Route 47 project/Kishwaukee River Corridor Planning Project

Todd Fagen of Land Strategies, Inc. will provide an overview of a pilot project to coordinate land use and transportation planning in the Route 47/Kishwaukee River Corridor between Huntley and Woodstock, a rapidly developing area in McHenry County. The goal is to develop a long-range strategic plan to accommodate expected population growth while protecting the Kishwaukee River, currently a "Class A" stream. Mr. Fagen will invite meeting participants to provide feedback on ideas for community design that will generate non-motorized trips, as well as proposals for a multi-modal corridor to provide north-south connections between the communities. Estimated duration: 25 minutes.

Soles and Spokes Events

CATS staff will provide a report on the recent Safe Routes to School and Bike Lanes/Bike Paths workshops and the upcoming Greenways and Trails workshop. Staff will also propose an end-of-year Soles and Spokes Awards for Excellence event to highlight local projects and programs. Estimated Duration: 15 minutes.

Regional Transportation Plan (RTP)

Kermit Wies will lead the task force in a discussion regarding goals and objectives for Shared Path 2030, the process to develop a new Regional Transportation Plan. Goal topics are available in the most recent Shared Path 2030 newsletter (available at www.catsmpo.com/sp2030/Newsletter_062002.pdf). Additional materials regarding goals and objectives will be available at the meeting. Staff will also discuss an approach to multi-modal corridors.

Tom Murtha will lead a discussion regarding proposals. A list of proposals (unprocessed and unevaluated) is at www.catsmpo.com/sp2030/SP2030ProposalList_070302.pdf. More detailed information is available from Tom Murtha upon request.

Please note that public meetings to elicit feedback on RTP goals, objectives and recently submitted transportation proposals will occur in July and August (for dates and locations, see the newsletter referenced above). RTP Committee discussion of future task force activity is expected in July. The task force may determine that it wants to meet before the next scheduled meeting (October 23) to help formulate draft goals and objectives and to review and improve transportation proposals. Estimated Duration: 30 minutes.

Illinois Cardiovascular Health Partnership Update.

CATS staff will provide a progress report on the Illinois Cardiovascular Health Partnership. Estimated Duration: 5 minutes.

Edwards and Kelcey staff will provide an update on recent activities. Please note that the third meeting of the plan steering group will convene five minutes after the task force meeting. Public comment is encouraged throughout the meeting. The chair will recognize non-task force members as appropriate. The chair will have the discretion to limit discussion if it becomes redundant or is irrelevant.
