  1. Approval of Meeting Notes from March 20, 2001

  3. Subregional Bicycle Planning Update
  4. Representatives from various councils and agencies will provide an update on their area's bicycle planning and implementation progress.

    ACTION: Information and discussion.

     

  5. Latent Demand Modeling
  6. Bruce Landis, of SCI consultants, will discuss his work on developing methods to predict demand for non-motorized transportation facilities (a more in-depth discussion will occur at 1pm, after lunch). See Attachment 2.

  7. Scope of Work for Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan
  8. CATS staff will discuss a scope of work for the plan. The work anticipates consultant selection. The consultant selection process will begin in July.

    ACTION: Information and discussion.

     

  9. Bicycles and Transit Update
  10. Representatives from CTA, Pace and Metra will share any recent developments.

    ACTION: Information and discussion.

  11. Walkable Communities Update
  12. CATS staff will provide a progress report. After the meeting, staff will demonstrate a "walkabout." See Attachment 3 or visit www.catsmpo.com.bikeped/walkgrantdetails.htm.

Public comment is encouraged throughout the meeting. The chair will recognize non-task force members as appropriate. The chair will have the discretion to limit discussion if it becomes redundant or is irrelevant.

CATS staff will lead a "walkabout" of the west loop area after the meeting to demonstrate ways of assessing the pedestrian environment. After the walkabout and lunch (about 1pm), interested parties will reconvene to discuss the technical aspects of Mr. Landis' work.
