Introductions

Meeting participants will introduce themselves. CATS staff will also recommend individuals to fill task force vacancies. Estimated Duration: 5 minutes.

Approval of Meeting Notes from October 24, 2001

Walkable Communities Workshops

A brief status report of the 2001 Walkable Communities Workshops will be given. See Attachment 2 (pdf file) for an interim report. Staff will also discuss an opportunity to provide several Walkable Communities Workshops along the Palatine - Willow Corridor. Estimated Duration: 10 minutes.

Soles and Spokes Working Group Proposal

CATS staff will provide a brief report on the recent "Over, Under and Across" workshop and present the Soles and Spokes working group proposal for on-going technical training. See Attachment 3. Estimated Duration: 15 minutes.

Inclusion of Youths in CATS Household Travel Survey

The Work Program Committee considered the request of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force to collect travel information for youths in the proposed Household Travel Survey. The draft minutes of that discussion are included as Attachment 4. Staff will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the approach proposed by the Work Program Committee and seek appropriate direction from the Task Force. Estimated Duration: 15 minutes.

Unified Work Program

CATS staff will solicit ideas for bicycle and pedestrian planning projects to be included in next year's UWP. See Attachment 5 for last year's UWP summary. Estimated Duration: 20 minutes.

Highway/Transit Working Groups Update

CATS staff will explain how the newly formed Highway and Transit Working Groups are considering the inclusion of bicycle and pedestrian projects in Shared Path 2030, the process to develop the next Regional Transportation Plan. An excerpt of a list of issues and projects discussed during the last planning process is included as Attachment 6. Estimated Duration: 20 minutes.

Suburban Bike Rack Program

Communities may purchase discounted bicycle racks through the CMAQ funded Suburban Bicycle Parking Program. See Attachment 7. Estimated Duration: 5 minutes.

Cardiovascular Health Partnership

The Illinois Cardiovascular Health Partnership is developing goals and objectives as part of the process to develop an Illinois Cardiovascular Health State Plan. Staff will briefly discuss the status of this process and the development of the goals and objectives. Estimated Duration: 10 minutes.

Public comment is encouraged throughout the meeting. The chair will recognize non-task force members as appropriate. The chair will have the discretion to limit discussion if it becomes redundant or is irrelevant.
